Markdown editor FAQ

What is an online Markdown editor?

An online Markdown editor lets you write plain-text documents in your browser while viewing formatted headings, lists, tables, and code. ConvertAny also supports Mermaid diagrams for notes, READMEs, and technical documentation.

How do I preview Mermaid flowcharts and sequence diagrams?

Create a fenced code block labeled mermaid and write flowchart or sequenceDiagram syntax inside. The preview generates a diagram automatically and displays an error if the syntax is invalid. The Insert Mermaid toolbar button adds a flowchart example.

Is my Markdown uploaded to a server?

No. Markdown editing, previewing, and Mermaid rendering happen in your browser. Drafts use this browser’s local storage. The site still loads normal page resources and uses site analytics; remote images in Markdown make requests to their image hosts.

Will my draft survive a page refresh?

When local storage is available, edits and the file name are saved automatically and restored after refresh. Drafts do not sync across browsers or devices. Clearing site data or ending a private browsing session may remove them. Download important work as .md.

Does the downloaded .md file include Mermaid diagrams?

The export keeps your Markdown source and mermaid code blocks rather than converting diagrams into images. The app opening the file needs Mermaid support to display diagrams; otherwise it shows their code.

Which Markdown formats are supported?

Headings, bold, italic, ordered and unordered lists, quotes, links, images, fenced code, and GFM tables, task lists, and strikethrough are supported. Raw HTML is not executed. LaTeX, MDX, and some app-specific extensions are not supported.
